北津軽郡中泊町にある旧家宮越家にある日本を代表するステンドグラス作家小川三知（さんち）のオリジナル作品が公開されている。

2004年、小川三知の日記から宮越家の作品にたどり着いたステンドグラス史研究家の田辺千代さんは「小川三知の最高傑作が百年もの間、オリジナルのまま無傷で残っていた。国宝級です」と高く評価している。

The original work of Sanchi Ogawa had been released by a leading Japanese stained-glass artist in the former Miyakoshi family in Nakadomari-cho, Kitatsugaru-gun.

In 2004, Chiyo Tanabe, a stained-glass history researcher arrived at the work of the Miyakoshi family and revealed the diary of Sanchi Ogawa, saying that it will be highly appreciate, “The best masterpiece of Michi Ogawa remained intact for 100 years. It is a national treasure”.

小川三知の作品は、宮越家第9代当主の正治さん（1885～1938）が1920（大正9）年、夫人のイハ（いわ）さんの誕生日祝いに敷地離れ内に建てた「詩夢庵（しむあん）」の中にある。「涼み屋敷の間」（すずみやしきのま）にあるガラス障子４枚に施されたものと、円窓の間の「十三湊景観」（とさみなとけいかん）、公開にはなっていないが風呂場の「柳とカワセミ」の三作品。

Sanchi Ogawa’s work is known as a “Shimu-ann” built by MR. Masaharu (1885-1938), the 9th owner of the Miyakoshi family, it is located in “Shimuan”, which was built on the premises away from the site to celebrate Mrs. Iwa’s birthday in 1920 (Taisho 9). The ones on the four glass shoji screens in the “Ryomiyashiki no Ma” and the “Jusanminato Landscape” between the circular windows are not open to the public, but it is known as the three productions of “Yanagi and Kawasemi” in the bathroom.

日本画を志していた三知は日本画技法を活かし、「日本の伝統の美」を「涼み屋敷の間」にあるガラス障子４枚に描いた。アジサイ、コブシ、ケヤキ（あるいはハゼ）のステンドグラスは、庭を借景とし、日々の光や季節の移ろいをデザインしている。海外で学んだ技法を駆使し緻密な作業で表現している。右のコブシの花は、やや灰色がかった黄系の白や、乳白色など、色味や質感の違う上質なガラスを組み合わせて使うことによって、微妙な濃淡付けている。反対に、幹や枝は、上から下まで同じガラスを使い、力強い生命力が感じさせる。

By aspiring the Japanese painting, Sanchi was drew by using Japanese painting method, “Traditional beauty of Japan” on four glass shoji screens in the “Ryoyashiki no Ma”. Stained-glass of hydrangea, magnolia kobus, and zelkova (or goby) uses the garden as a backdrop to design sun ray and seasonal changes. It expresses with precise work by making full use of the techniques learned in overseas. The magnolia Kobus on the right is subtly shaded by using a combination high quality glass with different colors and textures, such as slightly gray yellowish white and milky white. On contrast, the trunk and branches used the same glass from top to bottom, giving a feeling of firm vitality.

円窓の間の「十三湊景観」（とさみなとけいかん）には、帆掛け船が浮かんでいて、日光の動きにつれ、波打っているように見えるようになっている。西側にあるこの窓は、夕日が美しく映え、そして日暮れとともに沈む。

Scenery of a floating boat in the “Tosaminato landscape” between the circular windows seems to undulate as the sunlight moves. The window on the west side has a beautiful sunset and sets at nightfall.

宮越家第9代当主の正治（まさはる）さん、イハ（いわ）さん夫妻は、文化人だった。正治さんは、奥田抱生（おくだほうせい　書家）に師事し、後に「機山」と号し、書画・漢文・骨董・建築等の審美眼は、抱生の下で開眼したという。イハさんは、短歌を学び、「麗子」の雅号を拝領した一流の歌人だった。道の奥（みちのく）にこれほどの文化人がいたことは、驚く。

宮越家公開に合わせ、中泊町博物館で様々な道具類や資料を展示している。

旧家の文化を味わせてもらった1日だった。

The 9th owners of the Miyakoshi family, Mr. Masaharu and Mrs. Iwa were cultural figures. Mr. Masaharu studied under Okuda Hosei (calligrapher) and later called “Kizan”, and it is said that the aesthetic eyes of calligraphy, Chinese writing, antiques, architecture, etc. were enlightened by Hosei. Mrs. Iwa was a first-class poet who learned tanka and worshiped the title of “Reiko”. It is surprising that there were so many cultural figures in the back in the days.
Along with the opening of the Miyakoshi family, various tools and materials are exhibited at the Nakadomari Museum.
It was a day where I experienced the culture of an old family.
